Cleveland Browns

Week 8 Rapid React: Browns vs Vikings

The Cleveland Browns (0-8) put up a strong effort and even held the halftime lead but ultimately fell to the Minnesota Vikings (6-2) by a final score of 33-16.

It’s the second consecutive season the Browns have started 0-8, making them the first team since the Bengals during the mid-90s to start consecutive seasons winless through 8 games.

DeShone Kizer completed the entire game without turning the ball over but still a poor game with his accuracy.

Kizer did have another rushing touchdown on a QB sneak late in the first half, his third touchdown on the ground this season.

He finished the game 18-34 for 179 yards while taking three sacks for a total loss of 18 yards.

Isaiah Crowell led the charge offensively for the Browns today with 118 yards total yards from scrimmage.

He got the game started off by capitalizing on Joe Schobert’s interception for great field position by breaking through on a 26 yard touchdown early in the game.

Crowell finished with 11 carries for 64 yards and 4 catches for 54 yards.

However, he fumbled on the opening possession of the second half and basically sucked the energy out of the Browns from that moment on.

On Minnesota’s end, Case Keenum did just enough to help them win their fourth consecutive game.

He finished the game 27-43 for 288 yards, two touchdowns (one each to Adam Theilen and Kyle Rudolph) and that one interception that came on a tipped pass.

The Browns run defense once again looked great limiting Minnesota to 88 yards but that didn’t stop Jerrick McKinnon from making a huge impact on the game.

McKinnon had 50 yards rushing and a touchdown on 14 carries but also had 72 yards on six catches.

Theilen had five catches for 98 yards and a touchdown which led the way in the receiving game for Minnesota.

Browns rookie kicker Zane Gonzalez missed an extra point as well as a 35 yard field goal attempt.

He’s 7 of 11 this season but Hue Jackson may have seen enough because he told reporters they need to make a change at the position which I’m sure the organization will address this week.

The Browns now hit the bye week and don’t expect any major changes to the organization.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Hue Jackson is safe as of now and other changes will come at the end of the season

What those other changes are is unknown at the moment but with front office rumors swirling, that seems to be where it’ll happen.

The Browns return to action in two weeks to face the Detroit Lions.
