Kizer remains starting QB, Garrett in concussion protocol

The Cleveland Browns announced DeShone Kizer will remain the starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Kizer was benched last Sunday against the Tennessee after two interceptions thrown in back to back drives but Hue Jackson said he gives the team the best chance to win and had a solid practice on Wednesday.

He finished the game 12-20 for 114 yards and those two crucial interceptions.

When talking about a potential quick hook, Jackson told reporters that he’s not worried about what people think about how he manages the quarterbacks and Kizer knows the turnovers are “non-negotiable”.

Cody Kessler will be the backup quarterback as Kevin Hogan continues to recover from his bruised ribs he suffered against Houston.

Garrett in concussion protocol

Browns rookie defensive end Myles Garrett is in the league’s concussion protocol and it’s unknown if he’ll be available for Sunday’s game.

Garrett came to the team’s facility on his off day Tuesday complaining of potential concussion symptoms.

Coach Jackson told reporters that Garrett is allowed to travel to London with the team but that decision will be made by the medical staff before the team leaves Thursday night.

Through three games, Garrett has eleven tackles and four sacks.

Roster moves

The team elevated tight end Matt Lengel to the active roster from the practice squad. Lengel spent last season with Cincinnati and New England where he won a Super Bowl.

In six games with the Patriots,he had two catches for 22 yards and a touchdown.

The team also signed undrafted rookie offensive lineman Victor Salako. Salako spent the offseason and one week with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Salako played college football at Oklahoma State.
