Alexander done for season, Browns make roster moves

Cleveland Browns linebacker Dominique Alexander was placed on injured reserve Tuesday afternoon after suffering a knee injury against the Bengals.

Alexander, who is mainly a special teams player has appeared in 18 games for the team since signing as an undrafted rookie after the 2016 NFL Draft. He’s only had one fumble recovery in those 18 games.

The team elevated linebacker Deon King from the practice squad to fill the roster spot. King is a second year player from Norfolk State who was with the Browns during training camp and preseason. King played six games combined last season between Indianapolis and San Diego.

They’ve also reportedly signed Eagles wide receiver Bryce Treggs off their practice squad, they would have to release a player off the 53 man roster to make room for him.

Treggs (5’11, 190) was undrafted out of California and spent the 2016 preseason with the 49ers before being claimed by Philadelphia. He appeared in nine games last season and had 3 catches for 80 yards.

Obviously the front office is trying to find something for the wide receiver position to help accommodate quarterback DeShone Kizer and potential fits for Hue Jackson’s vertical offense.

Cleveland also made some practice squad moves. They signed linebacker Austin Calitro and wide receiver Rannell Hall to the practice squad while releasing linebacker Garrett Sickels.

Calitro spent the preseason with the New York Jets and two weeks on Seattle’s practice squad earlier this season. He played college football at Villanova where he had 220 tackles, 8.5 sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles in 48 career games.

Browns fans should be familiar with Hall as he’s been apart of the organization in some form since 2015. He had 7 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown during the preseason before being one of the final roster cuts last month.
