Myles Garrett suffers ankle injury, could miss games.

As I wrote earlier in the Browns notes recapping the day, Myles Garrett suffered an injury to his ankle during practice.

Now it’s feeling like part of the hope of this upcoming season may be simmering for the time being.

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com is reporting that the team is “worried” the first overall pick maybe sidelined for weeks with that potential injury.

Head coach Hue Jackson said he didn’t think it was the ankle that Garrett injured earlier this year during minicamp and during his time at Texas A&M but they would evaluate and see how it goes through the week.

Cabot also reported that Garrett will have an MRI done.

If he does indeed have to miss time, it’ll be a huge blow to the Browns defense who looked as great as advertised during the preseason, allowing just one touchdown in the four exhibition games.

Garrett played a huge role in that, showing his elite pass rushing ability in disrupting the quarterbacks and also shutting down the running game that made him the top pick in April’s NFL Draft.

I’m sure Gregg Williams will miss having Garrett on the field but he won’t beg for mercy or sorrow and will get the rest of the defense ready.

Guys like Emmanuel Ogbah, Carl Nassib and Nate Orchard need to step it up and fill the potential void left by Garrett’s absence if he has to sit out a few weeks.

This could also lead to the team bringing back Tyrone Holmes who was one of the roster cuts last weekend, Holmes showed he can get after the quarterback during the preseason and the team will need some depth at the defensive end position.
