Lebron James and Kyrie Irving named All Star starters

The NBA All Star game starters have been announced and once again, the Cleveland Cavaliers are represented.

Forward Lebron James and guard Kyrie Irving were voted in by fans, media and their peers as starters for the Eastern Conference squad. It’s the thirteenth consecutive and overall selection to the game for James who’s made it every year except his rookie season. Irving will be making his fourth consecutive All Star appearance.

Forward Kevin Love was one of the three front court leaders in fan voting in the East along with James and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo but didn’t get the starting nod. That went to Raptors forward Demar DeRozan. Bulls guard Jimmy Butler was also voted as a starter for the East along with James, Irving, DeRozan and Antetokounmpo.

Lebron James is averaging 25.6 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game in 37 games this season.

Kyrie Irving is averaging 23.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game in 35 games this season.

Both have had their game recognized on the All Star level as well. James is a two time All Star game MVP winning it in 2006 and 2008. Irving won the MVP in the 2014 game.

I would fully expect Kevin Love to join them as an All Star reserve when they’re announced next Thursday.

Love is averaging 20.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per game in 36 games this season, his best season statically since joining the Cavs in 2014.

The Cavaliers have had three All Stars in one game before. In 1989 and 1993, Mark Price, Larry Nance and Brad Daugherty all represented the team in the All Star game together.
