Browns to play in London in 2017

The NFL officially announced the four games that will be apart of the 2017 NFL International Series.

The Cleveland Browns will participate in one of those four games when they take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 or 8 of the 2017 season. The game will take place at Twickenham Stadium in the southwest side of the United Kingdom’s capital.

This is the first time the Browns will play in a regular season game outside of the United States but not the first time they’ve played across the pond.

The team participated in the exhibition “American Bowl” which was a fixture in the NFL from 1986 to 2005. In 1989, they traveled to London to battle the Philadelphia Eagles at Wembley Stadium. They lost that game 17-13.

The Browns will surrender one of their home games for traveling overseas to play. For season ticket holders, they’ll be charged one game less when the new prices go out. Instead of ten home games, they’ll be charged for nine.

The United Kingdom has always been discussed as one of the international spots where the Browns have huge support. There’s a Browns Backers club in London and I’m sure fans from the United States will travel to watch the team play.

The official date and time for the game hasn’t been determined and the league schedule won’t be released until April.
